Darializa Avila Chevalier is a doctoral student in Sociology at the CUNY Graduate Center. She is primarily interested in studying the ways Black immigrants from Latin America are impacted by the US criminal system and deportation. Her professional background and community organizing work has largely focused on issues of policing, incarceration, and immigrant detention. She holds a BA from Columbia University.
